Profile

Department of Science and Humanities , also called First Year Department, consists of the following disciplines;

• ENGLISH
• MATHEMATICS
• PHYSICS
• CHEMISTRY

This department is conducting basic engineering, science as also language courses to the the students of four year B.E. and B.Tech. , two year M.E. and MBA courses. The staff members of the department are well qualified as per AICTE and Anna University norms and experienced in their field. This department motivates and encourages the students of first year to participate in symposiums, seminars, etc. conducted by other colleges in order to have exposure by giving special training on presentation skills.

English
The staff members of this discipline are taking full efforts in order to enable the students from rural background and Tamil medium schools to cope up with the engineering environment by conducting various special coaching classes using suitable study materials with modern technological equipments. Also seminars, guest lectures for students by eminent personalities from IIT, Anna University, etc., workshop for faculty members and conferences are periodically arranged to update their knowledge in the field and also to make them aware of the present scenario in the engineering field and also to face the present challenges in the globalized village. With the help of the staff members from this discipline, Placement training at various levels is given to the students from the second year onwards.

MATHEMATICS
This is the department which plays a vital role in the field of engineering and technology. The experienced and well qualified staff members from this department are imparting mathematical knowledge at various levels. From First Semester to the Final Semester of four year B.E./B.Tech. courses and also to PG courses, the staff members from this department conduct courses. They also conduct bridge courses for the first year and also lateral entry students in order to fill up the gap on the topics in Mathematics which they are missing at the higher secondary level as also diploma level. This department also arranges for workshop, Faculty Development Programmes and conferences periodically for staff members in order to update their knowledge in their subject to meet the needs of the present situation.

PHYSICS
The staff from this department are fully qualified and experienced in their field. They also conduct courses for the first year students in the First and Second semesters. They are also arranging guest lectures and seminars for the benefit of students as well as staff to get deeper knowledge in the subject.

CHEMISTRY
The staff from this department are qualified and experienced in their field. They conduct courses for the first year students in the First and Second semesters and also for the second and third year students. They are also arranging guest lectures and seminars for the benefit of students as well as staff to get deeper knowledge in the subject.
